"It runs smootly for OAS" – this has been the motto of this year's solidarity run "Run to the Venus, which took place on 20 September 2020.
Since 2001, one Sunday in September has been chosen to commonly exercise for charity. It were not only the "OAS Runners and Friends" in Bremen and Berlin but also in Augsburg who started together with "M-net" the corporate running challenge.
Many things have been different this year. Due to the current situation in times of COVID-19, the meeting point in Bremen has not been the Marcus Fountain in the Bürgerpark as usual. Sports fanatics, lovers of fresh air and the sun could do their laps wherever they wanted in and around Bremen. Whether running, strolling with the family, or bicycling – taking part has been what counted as this has served an important purpose! For every kilometre made, companies have donated 0.50 Euros for cancer sports and rehab offers.
In Augsburg, one Euro of each participation fee has been donated to contact in Augsburg e.V. – a charity shop. In Augsburg, the pandemic has led to alterations as well. No spectators, only small groups of runners, no presentation ceremony. Despite these exceptional conditions, the participants have been excited and have made the best of the situation.
Already in the last year, there were 3,982 participants. This year, there have been even more – over 4,400 persons have participated. OAS alone has covered a distance of almost 660 km – a great result! Many thanks to the energetic runners and bicyclists for your commitment!
