Domiciled in the Bavarian Chiemgau, the company Adelholzener Alpenquellen GmbH sells mineral waters and medicinal mineral waters as well as a variety of soft drinks under the brands Adelholzener and Active O2. As a part of the congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, the company explicitly admits its social responsibility and among other things takes its revenues gained to finance social projects of the religious congregation.

With about 80 %, Adelholzener predominantly sells refillable bottles, which can be refilled up to 40 times, and, with its sustainable packing strategies, it makes a considerable contribution to the protection of the environment.

The committed and cooperative action of OAS, starting with the preparation of the specifications and ending with the completion of the project, really elated us. Today, there is complete transparency regarding all lorries on site and we do not have to think about the way they take here anymore.

Challenge

Having such a clear view of its policy, the company also wanted a clear structure of its logistic processes. An expansion in the past years required restructuring of the site in Siegsdorf coming along with altered routes to the premises and on-site.

These measures also aimed at the implementation of a central yard management. The yard management system (YMS) is designed to optimise plant-logistic processes, to meet increased safety requirements, and to make processes safe both, inwards and outwards. OAS is a specialist for such challenges of plant logistics and faced up to the holistic project.

Solution

As control system, we implemented our yard management system logis 2.0. OAS logistic terminals, license plate recognition systems, and barrier systems were the central hardware components installed at both waiting areas for lorries in front and at the three entrances to the premises. OAS not only delivered the hardware and the software, but also the complementary peripheral devices.

Radio pagers are used to call the drivers. In an automated manner, they are handed out to the drivers and retained at the exit. On-site, the drivers are guided through different areas. The call and further guiding partly takes place manually on the stacker terminals but also automatically in the shipping bay for full products where the loading platforms are sensor-monitored.

"The professional and proactive project management by OAS assured that commissioning took place smoothly and as fast as possible while the business continued", tells Manual Waldherr, the project manager of Adelholzener Alpenquellen GmbH.

The customer's benefits:

  • planning reliability through professional pre-engineering
  • yard management hardware and software from a single source
  • cost reduction through process optimisation
  • saved time through automated registration of the drivers
  • flexibility through pagers used to call the drivers
  • increased safety on-site through an access of lorries as required
  • transparency through automated logging of step sequences
  • process reliability through intelligent interfaces
