The Kröner Stärke GmbH Company produces natural, high-quality products from renewable resources for the industry, craftspeople, and the trade. The global player, which is rich in tradition, provides experience gained in over one hundred years in the field of starch production and supplies first and foremost medium-sized companies of the food and animal food industry and of the paper industry.

Based on the company’s policy with the customer’s satisfaction as ultimate ambition to produce starch without chemical additives and to serve the common good, Kröner Stärke relies on natural flours and raw potable water coming from its own well. For generations, the company has produced foodstuff for the industry, craftspeople, and the trade in a natural manner, all with the aim to become a regional pioneer.

We want to be a pioneer in our region. Therefore, we have to become even better and better and optimise our procedures. We will be really pleased when our investment into the yard management project will pay off and we could fathom implementing further projects with OAS AG.

Challenge

The successful installation of four new OAS truck scales of almost 30 metres in length at our customer's, awakened the customer’s desire for further optimisation of the entire logistic process on-site.

Here, this large-scale yard management project aimed at processing the lorries at the new loading silo in a largely automated manner. The drivers should get the opportunity to rapidly weigh their lorries on their own using a multilingual user interface. This aims at preserving internal resources and making the delivery process on-site more efficient.

Solution

”When our weighing technology team had prepared and installed without a hitch our truck scales of 30 metres in length, successful commissioning of the yard management system took place – thanks to the great support rendered by our customer and by our OAS software team,“ states Stefan Ahrens, project manager at OAS AG who proves 25 years of experience in this business segment of OAS AG.

Our customer attached importance to a relief of its internal personnel through the automation of weighing procedures and the opportunity for the drivers to weigh their freight on their own in a reliable, rapid, and smooth manner. The multilingual interface on the logistic terminals of rugged design along with the connection to our yard management software logis allows for further optimisation of production.

”The service by OAS AG with dedicated contact persons was top and dates appointed in advance were met. We were particularly pleased with the flexible reaction on short-term requests for changes as well as with the training we received at the production site in Bremen during the factory approval (FAT),” sums up Marco Koch who is in charge of the IT management at Kröner Stärke GmbH.

”Inside, the terminals look like a journey-man work made for the examination for the master craftsman’s certificate,“ Marco Koch is joking. He really appreciates the top hardware quality. He adds, “This quality can be found throughout: starting with the construction of the terminals, through the manner of working of OAS employees during the project, and ending up with the networked yard management software logis“, and he envisages further projects with OAS AG, e.g. in the field of production control.

Of course, we are really proud of this! But despite our customer’s satisfaction, we have found issues that require optimisation and we will discuss them now. Our demand is: to become even better every day, and our customer’s feedback during the wash-up meeting at the end of a project is worth one’s weight in gold.
