Special truck scales

The appropriate truck scales for each application

Special truck scales

Flexible solutions to your individual requirements

Truck scales are indispensable in many industries when it is about the detection of the flow of goods. The many different potential use cases for a set of truck scales lead to different scales constructions. Beside our standardised truck scales solutions, custom-built scales for special needs are no problem at all.

Truck scales for asphalt mixing plants

We have also implemented successfully many scales solutions into existing loading environments, e.g. in an asphalt mixing plant, or in already covered buildings. As an option, it is possible to meet special requirements, such as designing precast concrete units in accordance with the WHG (the German Federal Water Act).

Truck scales for already covered areas or ports

Thanks to a construction height of only 30 cm, our extremely flat truck scales are suitable especially for use cases where the installation of foundation pits or high above-ground structures are impossible. Thus, they are perfect for an installation into already covered areas or loading lines. Furthermore, we also offer scales solutions for the SOLAS compliant weighing of sea containers, calibratable scales for small quantities, such as scales for passenger cars, or upon request even calibratable truck scales for an export to Austria and Switzerland.

Special scales & special designs

Depending on the use case, it is of course possible to realise special scales and special designs beyond our standard portfolio of truck scales. This covers not only special lengths of up to 40 m, but also special widths of between 3.5 m and 5 m or wider. Please do not hesitate to contact our expert for truck scales.

Flat truck scales EFL

Perfect for an installation into already covered areas or loading lines

For each application the appropriate OAS truck scales: we will find the perfect special truck scales for your weighing environment. Whether lorry, passenger car, or helicopter – we will weigh (almost) everything for you!

Thanks to their construction height of only 30 cm, our flat truck scales are especially suitable for applications where the installation of foundation pits or high above-ground structures are impossible. Here, it is possible to build really short access ramps.

The above-ground truck scales by OAS of the type EFL is composed of an extremely flat multi-piece weighbridge made of short prefabricated parts, which are easy to transport and install. Depending on the composition of the existing ground, installation can take place on strip foundations built by the customer or on a continuous concrete slab.

Your benefits at a glance

  • extremely flat – therefore, perfect to be installed in already covered areas (e.g. loading lines)
  • little in-house performance – because it is possible to install the scales onto an existing load-bearing ground
  • very short installation time – consequently, the carriageway can early be returned to service
  • reliable load cell operation within the calibratable range – even in case of intensive solar irradiation (risk for steel structures)
  • considerably reduced accident risk – compared to steel structures when there is rain or frost
  • low risk of fault– the equipotential bonding and the integrated surge protector are a good protection against lightning effects
  • all-inclusive price – the price for the truck scales includes freight, toll, crane, and the workmanlike assembly
Specifications of our flat truck scales EFL
  • flat weighbridges of 5 to 24 x 3 m acc. to DIN 811
  • construction height: 300 mm
  • weighing range up to 60,000 kg (or more with our heavy-load truck scales)
  • bridge segments of 5 or 6 x 3 m (as an alternative: one-piece solution of 18 or 20 x 3 m, respectively)
  • load cells protected under the bridge decking
  • cover plates over the gaps between the individual bridge segments
  • little weight of bridge segments allowing to easy transportation even in already covered areas
  • maintenance-free electromechanical substructure
  • future-proof – the weighing structure can be displaced

Additional options

  • Upturns made of concrete are located at both longitudinal sides of the weighbridge to position the vehicle correctly on the scales.

This reduces the effective width of roadway to 2.69 m. They help to reliably guide the vehicle to the centre of the scales.

  • The cover on weighbridge gaps comprises of a cover profile made of rubber (or as an alternative made of steel) for longitudinal protection against foreign matters (dirt, product, etc.), which otherwise could enter the scales foundation.

  • Additional inspection openings in each bridge segment for flush-mounted structures are possible.

All OAS truck scales are manufactured in plants for precast concrete units in Germany and meet strict requirements. They comply with the rules and regulations issued by the PTB (the German national metrology institute providing scientific and technical services) as well as the recommendations by the International Organization of Legal Metrology OIML.

The admissible load complies with DIN 8119. The high-quality concrete used provides for high resistance to mechanical abrasion and to freeze-thaw-cycles.

Installation of the concrete units takes only a few hours. Together with the maintenance-free, electromechanical substructure, the complete solution is a cost-effective concept featuring low construction costs, short construction time, and minimised maintenance costs.

Scales for passenger cars

Perfect for passenger cars or Sprinters

The calibratable scales for passenger cars are perfect to weigh small vehicles, such as passenger cars, Sprinters, or transporters of up to 7.5 t of less total length than large lorries (40 t) and often used to deliver small quantities.

Our truck scales for small quantities feature a smaller bridge, which can be used to realise weighing ranges of up to 10 tons in an optimum manner.

The realisation of a scale interval of 5 or 10 kg allows to considerably reduce the minimum load for weighing procedures (5 kg => 100 kg minimum load / 10 kg => 200 kg minimum load), which leads to weighing compliant with the German Standards and Measures Law MessEG of small quantities (compared to a scales of 60 t with a scale interval of 20 kg and a minimum load of 400 kg).

It must be pointed out that the values resulting from weighing procedures of loads below the minimum load shall not be used for invoicing in business dealings. Any infringement of this constitutes a breach of an administrative rule.

We will be glad to give you advice regarding the truck scales design. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Your benefits at a glance

  • space-saving and on grade compared to above-ground solutions

  • little in-house performance for this complete solution compared to structures made of modules or featuring cast-in-place foundations

  • low risk of fault– the equipotential bonding and the integrated surge protector are a good protection against lightning effects

  • all-inclusive price – the price for the truck scales includes freight, toll, crane, and the workmanlike assembly
Specifications of our scales for passenger cars
  • weighbridges of 9 or 10 x 3 m acc. to DIN 8119 – for larger solutions, see truck scales and flush-mounted truck scales
  • weighing range of up to 40,000 kg – individual adjustment to the use case (e.g. weighing range of up to 10,000 kg with a scale interval of 5 kg / minimum load of 100 kg)
  • one-piece steel-concrete weighbridge made of prefabricated parts featuring inspection openings
  • one-piece steel-concrete foundation made of prefabricated parts
  • wear-resistant travel surface made of chipping concrete
  • resistant to frost and de-icing salt
  • maintenance-free electromechanical substructure
  • future-proof – the structure can be displaced
  • integrated lightning protection due to equipotential bonding and surge protector

Additional options

  • We offer heavy-load scales with a weighing range of up to 100 t, assumed loads acc. to DIN 8119 with a load per axle of 16.5 t.

  • The realisation of composite scales includes the opportunity to group several load carriers (bridges).
In this way, the individual load carriers (weighbridges) can be actuated separately or as a group.

  • Upturns made of concrete at both longitudinal sides of the weighbridge to position the vehicle correctly on the scales are an optional feature.

  • Load-dependent and automatic change-over to partial values (scale interval) to get different weighing ranges (e.g. 5 kg up to a weighing range of 10,000 kg / from a load of 10,000 kg upwards the scale interval automatically switches over to 10 kg).

SOLAS scales for sea containers

With a set of SOLAS scales by OAS, you are prepared for

compliant and calibrated weighing of sea containers.

With the implementation of the SOLAS rules and regulations on 01 June 2016, all containers shall be weighed in a certified manner prior to loading onto a sea vessel. The gross mass of the container (tare weight + all freight objects, incl. pallets and packaging) shall be collected and documented. We offer you a solution for different use cases, which can be readily implemented. Whether working with

van carriers, MAFI vehicles, or reach stackers

 – we offer solutions for different weighing scenarios with sea containers. The handling of lorry traffic could be of interest as well.

The intelligence behind the SOLAS scales

Each weighing system features a smart control system for the sequences and processes. In this context, in particular the automation of weighing procedures by means of self-service weighing carried out by the driver may be interesting. We use our experience gained over many decades in the field of automated and self-service weighing to offer you a custom-fit operating concept for your use case. Of course, our scope of performances also includes documentation of the weighing data and, if required, the transmission of data to down-stream systems (shipping company, ERP solutions, etc.). Please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be glad to assist you personally with advice.
